10 Daily nutrition tips to cook healthy meals.

You all must be aware of the saying, ‘ The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’.

But I have a slightly different version, “ The way to a man’s health is through nutritious food”.

Cooking tasty food is not enough. The heart (of men, women and children)  in today’s day is vulnerable to various diseases.

It is in need of  balanced and nutritious food .

So if you want your loved ones to live a healthy life, go through the tips and practice them in your kitchen.

1.Use only 1/2 litre oil+ghee per person in the family per month.

For eg. If there are 4 persons in the family , they should together consume  2litres of oil + ghee.

Get  different types of oils for  getting the nutritional benefits of all of them.

*Make dosas without oil.

*Most of the times, shallow fry food items instead of deep frying.

*Try using the appam patra for making wadas , manchurian etc. It will need very small quantity of oil.

*Cook chicken, mutton in the cooker , it requires less oil.

*Eat phulkas and bhakris. They are made without oil.

Note- Oil and ghee are necessary for the body. But in the right quantity.

2. Use jaggery more than sugar.

Sugar gives only glucose while jaggery has more iron  along with other benefits too .

You can make halwas and sheeras using jaggery.

In kheers you will have to use sugar as milk and jaggery do not go together.

3. If you routinely give ghee and sugar to kids , replace it with jaggery.

You  can use ghee and jaggery as a spread on rotis and bread for the kids.

They will love it too.

4. Use small cups to serve tea. In this way it will reduce the harm caused by excess tea.

5. Never cook legumes and dal in one meal.

Both have tendency to form gas and upset the stomach.

If you cook legumes then make kadhi , tomato curry or any other curry.

When there is dal , don' t cook legumes, vegetables will be a good option.

6. For breakfast you can make dosas/parathas of various flours like ragi, rajgira, dal etc.

Thalipeeth is also another loved and healthy maharashtrian savoury.

In such a way you are getting the nutrients of other grains too, and not just wheat &  rice.

7.For diabetics it is better to have tea without sugar. So if you have a little sweet once in a while it gets balanced.

8. Use salt a pinch less, than required. High salt in food is not good for health.

9. Always keep fruits at eye level in the kitchen. It should be encouraged as a snack item in between meal.

10. Avoid keeping too many packaged snack and bakery items at home.

They are eaten unnecessarily and do no good ,but might harm in a long run.
